Iowa picked to play Georgia Tech in Orange Bowl

MIAMI – Iowa is heading to the Orange Bowl, even after two losses in its final three games.

The 10th-ranked Hawkeyes (10-2) earned an at-large berth into the Bowl Championship Series and will face No. 9 Georgia Tech (11-2) on Jan. 5 in Miami.

Instantly, it shapes up as an offense vs. defense matchup.

Iowa has the nation's No. 11 defense, while Georgia Tech used the nation's No. 11 offense to win the Atlantic Coast Conference title and an automatic spot into the Orange Bowl.

It's Georgia Tech's sixth time in the Orange Bowl, but the Yellow Jackets' first visit since 1967. Iowa's only previous appearance in the Orange Bowl was in 2003, when it fell to Southern California.
