Commission settles lawsuit with former city engineer

The Augusta Commission has voted to settle the lawsuit filed by former city engineer Teresa Smith for $125,000.

The vote was 6-2, with Don Grantham and Jerry Brigham opposed, Alvin Mason having left early and Betty Beard absent.

that's joe for you...speak one way and act another, if you don't stand for principal you will fall for anything....caved on the lawsuit, voted to increase taxes, will to accept the word of the head of the CVB that the tee center will work(either based on the 2001 feasibility study-per metro sprit, or based on no hard marketing/demographic data at all)...go figure.....looks like RINO to me

The county wasn't going to

The county wasn't going to win this lawsuit because she kept getting good employee reviews. So, do you continue to rack up attorney's fees, knowing that there is zero chance that the county will win?
What would be the point of doing that?

The county could have won

The county could have won this lawsuit with competent legal counsel. Since the county administrator gave her a letter of recomendation he should have been the one to pay her off.
