A Martinez teen told police he was forcibly raped by his cellmate last week while serving time in the Columbia County Detention Center.
The 17-year-old man told jailers Friday morning that during the night his 19-year-old cellmate came to his bunk, pulled his pants down and forcibly sodomized him despite several pleas to stop. The teen was then taken to University Hospital for a rape kit evaluation, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.
The reported victim, serving a sentence for a shoplifting conviction and an arrest for terroristic threats and acts, was relocated within the jail to serve the remainder of his sentence, according to sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.
The victim’s cellmate, an Evans man in the jail charged with driving with a suspended license and no proof of insurance, is being held on a $2,200 bond.
The sheriff’s office is conducting an internal investigation of the incident. If the rape suspect is able to post bond before the investigation is complete, he will be released. He can be charged and arrested later in the incident, Capt. Morris said.

Gonna let my son read this. He is going thru his rebellious stage, and I took him to the YDR for the "Scared Straight" program. He took it as a joke and said he will fight when someone trys to rape him. I hope this young man didn't think the same thing. YOUNG MEN PLEASE STAY OUT OF TROUBLE...cause this could happen to you.

Why are they treating this suspect differently from other rape suspects? Did they find evidence of rape? What do you mean about letting him go if he make bond? Are all rape suspects released on bond? Also why no name, as far as the suspect is concerned.
Oreally I really hopes your son get his act together,cause this is no joke. I work in the prison system and these types of acts happens everyday. So this is real ,it's no joke being locked up. Stay on him everyday just like i do mines. But remember that's all we can do....Lets keep prayiny for ours children............

You know, with all the jokes that go around in society today about guys getting raped in jail/prison, you'd think that people would know that this could happen! And them thinking that they are bigger and badder than the "other guy" is just plain wrong! I'm glad this article came out and hopefully someone will benefit from it.

With the columbia co inmate roster online I was able to match up the victim as Daniel Alexander Cadle and the rapist as Bradley Mandela Houston. Nice work publishing the charges. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out.
I'm not saying those are the people involved, but their ages, charges, and fines match up perfectly to those reported.
How long does it take to find evidence of a rape? If they were in the same cell together then there ought to be 'residue' on both the men and it would seem easy enough to collect all that is needed to at least hold that man until he could be charged with the rape. What a sicko!
I was a trouble teenager, and my son went through the same thing. I can tell you that most teens don't believe they'll get caught. Once they get caught, they think they'll get out of it. If they don't, they think they can charm, bluff or fight their way out of things like this. Jail rape isn't about sex. Its about domination. What shows someone that you're the boss than this? To the mindset of some of the animals in jail, nothing.

Jep, this will untimately cost taxpayers a bunch. Are there no guards within hearing distance so the victim could have called for help? That should be mandatory, even if done electronically.
I believe the article is wrong. If the suspect makes bond on his original charge he will be released and immediately arrested on the rape charge is what it should say, I think.
jail isn't prison. despite the charges, many people are released from detention centers before being transferred to prison.
secondly, things like this don't have to happen. people like many of you think rape is a part of the "experience" or something that you just have to deal with which is why COs arent making efforts to prevent it. how does someone scream at the top of their lungs that they're being raped and none of the COs hear it? they're more pathetic than a crappy babysitter.

What are the chances that the "victim" already had his pants down around his knees anyway.....like every other thug wannabe on the street! This is what they need to tell / show the idiots that think they are cool with their "sagging"! Personally, I don't feel sorry for the "victim". Jail isn't supposed to be a good place to go. Before an individual is charged with a crime, there has to be probable cause for a warrant to be obtained. That probable cause is obtained by gathering evidence and submitting it to the crime lab for analysis. Unfortunately, this takes time. If the suspect has not been charged with a crime, the sheriff's dept. can't hold him by law. It's not as simple as an officer thinking he may have done it. You have to be able to prove it. That proof comes with the rape kit after the crime lab analyzes it. Until then we all have to just sit and wait. Then we will get to see one of our wonderful Superior Court Judges make a complete mess of things.

This happens every day in every prison.......while I hate it for the young man, I hope some of those kids out there realize after reading this that this could happen to them.
