A break in a water main has left Evans Middle School without water this morning.
The main office of the Columbia County Board of Education, located next to Evans Middle on Hereford Farm Road, also has no water, according to a press release from school officials.
Officials said the problem has been identified and repairs are under way They expect it to be finished in the next few hours.
In the meantime, portable restrooms will be brought to the school and sack lunches will be served.
Donnie scooped Pam Tucker!
Pammy, get that water back on soon. It's getting a little gamey around here.
infrastructure seems to be falling apart out there in cc...
Frank, yup, please stay in RC so you don't have to suffer. We appreciate it!
I noticed that portable toilets are fine for schools, but I didn't see where they would be provided to the main office. The real question is why isn't the school closed for safety reasons? I say that because the school by Federal and State and local laws is required to have a sprinkler system in the event of fire, Well if the water is off then what about the sprinkler?
Since all the schools in CC have electronics in the classrooms and common areas, have you considered the possibility of a Halon system?
Halon depletes the ozone layer.
yeap my water was muddy and spitting at me the last few days...now we know....
There is a replacement for Halon. Unfortunately, it is more expensive, but isn't that the way it always is ?? And the sprinkler system, if it exists, is only in the main building. What about the portables ??
It just seems to me, JerryAtrick, that the county's rate of growth has outpaced it's ability to upkeep it's infrastructure
Frank, that's a legitimate concern. I'll give you that one.
Does it even have sprinklers?
