The contentious race for the District 1 Augusta Commission seat will be decided Tuesday in a runoff between Matt Aitken and Bill Fennoy.

Mr. Aitken, who is white, finished first in the general election earlier this month in a district that's 65 percent black. He received 40.19 percent of the votes Nov. 3. Mr. Fennoy, who is black, received 32.39 percent.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday in 13 precincts in that district. Eligible electors may vote even if they didn't vote in the Nov. 3 general election.

If you aren't sure which precinct you live in, call the Board of Elections at (706) 821-2340.
