AIKEN -- Aiken County Sheriffs Office has set up a fund to help a deputy who lost his home in a fire.
Deputy Chris Eubanks and his wife will be helped through the fund, Deputy Chris Eubanks Beneficial Fund, through an account at Regions Banks, sheriff's Sgt. Dave Myers said. Anyone can donate at the banks located in South Carolina or Georgia, he said.
"I think he pretty much lost everything he owned," Sgt. Myers said.
Deputy Eubanks and his wife are making arrangements to stay elsewhere, Sgt. Myers said. He could not confirm the cost of the damage or the cause of the fire.
For most of Tuesday evening, fire crews attempted to extinguish the fire that began around 4 p.m. at the home in the 2100 block of Green Pond Road outside of Jackson, said an Aiken County 911 dispatcher.
Beech Island Fire Department and other local fire departments helped put out the fire. The fire is still under investigation, Sgt. Myers said.
was there insurance and, if so, how much was covered?
Obviously there was no insurance or he did not proper coverage. I hope they can raise enough funds to help out this family. As an Agent, please do not ignore calls from your Insurance Agent when they want to update and review coverages. It is so important to know that you are coverage in case of situations like this. Also, be warned that the cheapest coverage is never the best coverage.
