Brown's "cape man" bonded out of jail

The former "cape man" for James Brown was bonded out of jail Tuesday after being arrested and charged with possession of cocaine.

Daniel Brown Ray, 74, of Augusta, was arrested on Friday. His bond amount was $4,600, according to jail personnel.

Mr. Ray was well-known as the man who would introduce Mr. Brown and offer him a cape. Mr. Ray was arrested by officers after he drove a car in front of a known drug house on the 2600 block of Mill Street on Friday and conducted a transaction with a man, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s report.

Mr. Ray was later stopped by a deputy, who discovered a 0.2-gram piece of crack cocaine in the man’s left suit vest pocket, the report states.

Trying to figure out where the 2600 block of Mill Street is like they say in the report. Also stated in the report was that it was crack cocaine however Meth is checked off in the drug indicated section. Also says the time that the arrest occured was 2740? What's up with that deputy Stenger? Why was nothing mentioned about it being in a drug free school zone when he was pulled over?

The arrest was just another person to testify at a trial for a bigger fish that is brought to trial for a reduced sentence. The problem I have with this philosophy in police work is the fact that a person that occasionally uses pot and gets pulled over and caught with a joint has to turn in several sources that lead to an arrests or they will go away to jail for the maximum sentence. What if they only know one source because they are not hard core pot heads. That’s not good enough for the current system. They are the ones that end up in jail and the ones that are well connected end up back on the streets just finding another connection and becoming the bigger fish.

he is collateral damage in the war on drugs ? you can buy drugs in every city in this country. how is arresting this poor old fellow going to do anything to prevent even one person from using drugs >the enrichment of the people who profit from this war on drugs is the only postive outcome of this arrest ... follow the money and you will find out why we will never win this so callewd war .....
