A man was killed in a shooting in the 1100 block of Weston Street in North Augusta tonight, according to Lt. Tim Pearson of the North Augusta Department of Public Safety.
Paul Joseph Lirley, 35, of Marvin Drive in Aiken, was shot in what appeared to be a drug deal gone bad, Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said. Mr. Lirley was pronounced dead at the scene near Crestland Drive and Weston.
The Aiken Coroner's Office and the Aiken County Sheriff's Office are investigating.
Police are seeking a black man who was driving a white Oldsmobile Alero with dark-tinted windows.
The assailant fired five to seven shots at the victim, who collapsed in a driveway, Lt. Pearson said.
The assailant was described as 19 years old, between 5 feet 7 inches ane 5 feet 9 inches tall and between 160 and 180 pounds. He was wearing a black and white hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

It is not surprising for this to happen in that area. Sorry for the loss of life, but that is an area North Augusta Public Safety needs to clean up. There are good people residing in that area and putting up with the riff raff of drug dealings and other things. That neighborhood is no different than some in Richmond County with the crap going on and people looking the other way. North Augusta shutdown that teen hoodlum club so maybe the new chief there can clean up on Weston Street.

They've been dealing drugs in that area for 30 years but NADPS are to worried about people going 5mph over the speed limit on Martintown Rd. Good job Luckey, Rogers and all the little spiked haired cops in NA.
You just wonder what a 19 year old would do that would provoke someone to murder. When I was 19, I was going to college and planning and enjoying my wedding.
