The incident occurred at the 3600 block of Audubon Place. The homeowner said that at about 6 a.m. Sunday he heard several loud noises outside and looked out to find an unknown person had set the rear of his vehicle on fire, a sheriffs report states.
An officer who responded said a back passenger side window to the vehicle had been broken and there was extensive fire damage to the trunk area of the 2007 Toyota Camry. The officer also found a melted plastic gas can under the back of the vehicle.
The case is considered arson in the first degree.
