A man attempted to use a $100 counterfeit bill at an Augusta business Sunday night.

According to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the man entered the Sprint Food Store on Gordon Highway at about 9 p.m. Sunday and tried to purchase some items with the fake money. When a worker told the man the money wasn’t real and she couldn’t accept it, the man reportedly called someone on a cell phone, used profanity at the person on the phone and walked out of the store.

The fake bill was turned over to police.
