Two Augusta residents told police they were robbed around midnight Friday as they walked home from their jobs.
According to a Richmond County sheriffs report, the man and woman were walking home from Lucky Trip Gas Station, 2260 Lumpkin Road, when two males approached them at Shelby Drive and Hummingbird Lane and pointed handguns.
One of the robbers was described as black, 6 feet 2 inches tall, about 180 pounds with long dreadlocks. He was wearing all black and a black mask over his face.
The other was described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was also wearing all black and a black mask over his face.
The woman said that one of the robbers told her to hand over her paycheck while the other placed the barrel of his handgun to the back of the neck of the man she was walking with.
The woman gave the thief her black purse, which contained $142 in cash, keys to the Lucky Trip Gas Station, prescription medications and a Motorola I-485 cell phone.
The other robber took the mans Samsung Gravity cell phone.
The victims said they believe the robbers may have been driving a silver 4-door car with very dark tinted windows because they have seen the vehicle circle around their job before closing time.
I wonder if these guys are trying to turn their life around ... they just needed money for probation!
LOL. Stealing a cell phone is like stealing a car with "OnStar." Hope the police catch these thugs before they do something else.
Well criminals aren't smart ...
What a couple of p.o.s's. I hope they get what they truely deserve!
Hasn't there been mention of a silver car in some of the other crimes?
I caught a schoolbus at the corner of lumpkin &hy 25,,years ago,,sad to see this area go down like this,,richmond cty leaders here is the reason your tax base is going away....No one wants to live with CONSTANT CRIME ,,DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS & stop pretending it will go away..
again.....see why we left south Augusta???
BamaMan do not get things twisted. No matter where you reside, you can also be targeted. Criminals shows no respect for persons no matter where you are located. Criminals will find you.
Isn't that where those two babies were murdered? The station at Richmond Hill and Lumpkin Roads? I notified authorities the neighborhood behind Shelby Drive and Hummingbird was having problems before I got out of there. Shelby Drive and Hummingbird is the corner nearest where that shooting over loud music and drug bust were not too long ago. Odd, I always thought it was the other house that was the drug house, due to the type of traffic there all the time.
I am almost afraid to go to Augusta. It has gotten as bad as Atlanta.
BamaMan, I would like to leave Augusta, too, but since I have responsibilities that keep me here, I'm trying very hard to make things better. I love Augusta, but that is not enough. There are people here fighting to make things better, I just hope it's not too late.
I left South Augusta in 1988. Thank God.
I'm a creep I'm a weirdo, what the hell am I doing here. I don't belong here.
south Augusta rocks!
Lorraine, Bamaman doesn't have anything twisted. He is dead on! While there is definately a chance for crime to happen anywhere, if you do not see the overwhelming crime rate in south Augusta and downtown you are blind as a bat or choose not to look.
Isn't this a great time to cut the Law
Enforcement budget?
Do what you want thug wannabes, the few
cops we do have can't be in multiple places
at once.
I guess the Commissioners are tired seeing
their friends and relatives get locked up.
LAST ONE OUT OF AUGUSTA, PLEASE TURN OUT THE
LIGHTS.
did falling leaves say she believed in something strong enough to fight for it ? What about the rights of those who wish to trash the streets and decay the city. Thought you were a pacifist.Surely you won't stand in their way If that's what they want they should have that right. right...
Once again the paper has an easy job of writing their story. All they have to do is "copy and paste" the description of the perps from the last 150 or so robberies.
Humble Idiot as usual can be depended upon to post his usual B.S. I guess just like the last 150 Child Molesters had the same description?
I hope ANY and ALL CROOKS get the proper punisment they deserve and ANY and ALL LAW ABBIDING citizens are able to feel safe and secure in this world we live!
I have a suggestion, why don't a few qualified gun South Augusta concerned citizens start walking these unsafe areas and eliminate a few of the ones that make South Augusta have the reputation it has. It would be nice if the RCSO would put undercover agents to do this job, but it would cause a race riot after the first shooting.
Irish. What is THAT supposed to mean? Yes, I fought for it in every legal way possible. I called police when necessary, became part of my neighborhood association, contacted all the political do nothings around here, FOR OVER 7 YEARS! I moved my family four times to get them away from crime-ridden areas, still staying within a 2 mile radius, trying to bloom where I was planted. To say that I was targeted for that would be an understatement. Drug-traffickers, their enablers, their suppliers, and their co-dependents all made our lives a living hell. But I think you were just being sarcastic...right?
Cobalt. I carried, but I never let anyone know it. I was an award-winning shot, but they never found out. I thought it better they didn't know I was armed, considering all the other false accusations they made, the next thing I knew, someone would be saying I aimed a gun at them or shot at them.
The time is right, cause monies tight, for robberies in the street.
You cast a doubting eye to all that pass by, in case a robber do you meet.
Quick cash is the lure to the young men I'm sure and it seems to them like fun.
Their time will run short when they feel the report of the gun toting citizen.
So young men beware before you get back out there to humiliate another one.
Although you have a gun your not the only one, and he will be better prepared.
