1 charged, 1 sought in robbery

One man has been arrested in an armed robbery of an Augusta convenience store Friday morning.

According to jail committals, Mario Marcell Green, 25 of the 1600 block of McCauley Street, was arrested Friday night in the armed robbery of the Kangaroo Express at 3001 Deans Bridge Road.

The convenience store was robbed about 12:20 a.m. Friday by two men, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s report.

The victim said that the men entered the store carrying pistols. One pointed a pistol at him and said, “I’m going to shoot somebody - give it up,” as he approached the counter.

The victim gave him the money from the cash register, and the man told him to give him the money from the box under the counter.

The second man stayed by the door demanding that no one move.

Two witnesses were inside the store at the time of the robbery, according to the report.
