Let the good times roll: The weekend is here

You can start your weekend off tonight with some clever crafts at the Christmas Made in the South Show at the James Brown Arena, or with some bluegrass and Americana music with the Steep Canyon Rangers at the Imperial Theatre.

The annual Christmas Made in the South continues through 8 p.m. today, at the arena, 601 Seventh St. The event features vendors selling fines arts and crafts, gourmet food, handmade clothing and accessories, and unique gifts.

It's also open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets cost $6. Admission is free for ages 11 and younger. See www.augustaentertainmentcomplex.com.

There's more seasonal-themed entertainment in Evans, with the Columbia County Ballet production of The New Nutcracker at 7 tonight, 5 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday at Jabez S. Sunday, the Concerts with a Cause series continues with a performance by the Augusta Children’s Chorale and the Birmingham Boys Choir at 3 p.m. at St. John United Methodist Church, 736 Greene St. Admission is free and an offering, benefiting Downtown Cooperative Church Ministries, will be taken. Also Sunday the Augusta Concert Band, directed by Bob Willing, will present its annual holiday concert benefiting the Empty Stocking Fund at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Augusta, 3500 Walton Way. The concert is sold out. Ticket holders will be seated beginning at 2:30 p.m. At 2:45 p.m., unclaimed seats will be filled.
