AIKEN - Aiken County Council members voted in tonight's meeting to put new sheriff's vehicles on the road and increase holiday bonuses for Aiken County employees.
Council members voted unanimously to use 1-cent sales tax funds to replace 11 Aiken County sheriff's vehicles with high mileage and mechanical problems.
The council also voted unanimously to give employees a $100 holiday bonus instead of the $50 bonuses budgeted. The bonus increase was made possible by the savings the county achieved through careful budgeting and the hiring freeze, County Administrator Clay Killian said. The hiring freeze alone saved the county more than $400,000.
"This was our way of saying thank you for working through the hiring freeze, picking up the slack and helping us save in a lot of ways."

I wonder if Administrator Clay Killian would like to replace the one we have in Augusta. Seems like he's doing great work in Aiken Co.
I wonder if Mr Killian could mentor Fred Russell and sit in on a few Augusta council meetings . Maybe our elected might get a clue
