ATLANTA — A $2.5 million expansion and upgrade of the energy plant at the Medical College of Georgia won initial approval Tuesday from the University System of Georgia's Board of Regents.
The regents' Committee on Real Estate and Facilities gave its OK and recommended the full board approve it formally Wednesday.
The project, funded internally by the college, includes installation of a gas-fired generator, a centrifugal chiller and underground ducts. The school estimates it will meet the heating and cooling needs for the Cancer Research Center, the Sanders Research & Education Building and future buildings for the School of Dentistry, School of Medicine and the Education Commons.
With approval, the regents staff will advise the college on design and construction.

So this is why my tuition is going up and my professor have to take furloughs? Why not use some of the record breaking profit that MCGHealth made last fiscal year to build this? I am so glad I only have one more semester!
