COLUMBIA — The South Carolina House will formally receive an impeachment resolution on Gov. Mark Sanford.

It's the first bill that will be pre-filed today as the House opens the door to new legislation ahead of its January session beginning.

State Rep. Greg Delleney of Chester left the bill on the House desk last month when the House met in a brief, two-day session to deal with unemployment benefits and perks aimed at bringing Boeing Co. jobs to South Carolina.

Delleney said the bill will be the first one in the stack of legislation and it already has three co-sponsors and others may sign on after Tuesday.

Delleney says Sanford needs to be impeached because he abandoned the state to rendezvous with an Argentine lover and embarrassed South Carolina.

sanford needs to be impeached

sanford needs to be impeached just for using the word 'soulmate' to describe his common, garden-variety mistress.

The AP has had the impeachment starting since they broke this story. Sanford will leave office in November, but the left will make plenty of hay before then.

Why waste time and resources

Why waste time and resources on this, especially when resources are hard to come by these days? The state is struggling with money bad enough. All this is going to do is waste money we don't have and make the state a media frenzy. Couldn't we use that money for something important, like education??

At least the SC legislature

At least the SC legislature will not be able to pass more laws taking away your freedom while it spends time debating this ridiculous impeachment procedure.

He must be impeached. If he

He must be impeached. If he would lie to his wife, what would he do to the people who voted for him?

Power corrupts and absolute

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The flesh is weak, the intellect makes poor decisions and our strength in our faith is not always enough to save us from being human. Is one sin greater than another? Obviously we must exclude murder or any other violence, but our politicians lie to us daily. We accept that. Our politicians accept illegal monies daily. We accept that. Our politicians make decisions based on their convenience not our good daily. We accept that. Perhaps it is us, not just the politicians, who set the bar so low. I think everyone is responsible for his own actions. I in no way condone any one’s acts just because everyone is doing the same. I just think the true lapse in faith is common to us all and spiritual forgiveness is there for each of us. There is a difference in spiritual forgiveness and one’s constituents forgiving him for betraying their trust. I would love seeing this being discussed by folks who are stronger proponents of their faith than of their political party.

Sanford WILL be impeached
Unpublished

Sanford WILL be impeached simply because 2010 is an election year. His violations od Oath are clear. He lied to the state about his location. Those are high crimes of trust. Unexceptable behavior on behalf of principled governing. Once the process is started, he will resign - out before May '10...

Heck, seenit, lets put every

Heck, seenit, lets put every person in SC who has lied on a boat in the ocean and see who is left. This state would be left with only people who can't talk!!! No one is perfect. What he did was wrong. But the state, and the country, have bigger issues that need to be dealt with more than this. Just move on people!!

You are right sc lsu

You are right sc lsu fan,,,they can't move on though..I feel sorry for the man now..When I saw his press conference about where he was & his honesty about falling for this other woman I knew he was cooking his goose..How many politicians would say that & tell the truth..You would think the man took millions from the state from the mauling he's getting.

Rep. Greg Delleney says

Rep. Greg Delleney says Sanford needs to be impeached because, 1) he abandoned the state . . . . . . . . . . . . . and 2) he embarrassed South Carolina. . . . . . . . . . . . . Well, neither of those sounds like a crime to me.
