A McCormick County sheriffs deputy was sent to a hospital after a shooting early this morning.
According to a news release from the McCormick County Sheriffs Office, deputies went to a home to speak with residents about 4:30 a.m. Shortly after the deputies arrived, shots were fired. The shooter was arrested after a standoff with officers. The shooter is being held in the McCormick County Detention Center, according to the news release.
The deputy was taken to a hospital for treatment and was in stable condition, according to the news release.
The sheriffs office would not identify the wounded deputy or the alleged shooter, nor would it say what hospital the wounded deputy was taken to.
