ATHENS, Ga. - An Alpharetta man got separated from friends while drinking in downtown Athens on Friday night and was robbed about 2:50 a.m. by two men he thought were cab drivers, according to an Athens-Clarke police report.
After hanging out at Boars Head on East Washington Street, he caught what he thought was a cab, the man told police. Once he was inside the champagne-colored Cadillac, another passenger reached on top of the car, removed the sign and put it on the floor, the victim said.
The driver drove to the Quick Pantry at North Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive and parked. He pulled a handgun and demanded money. The passenger took the victim's cell phone and $10, according to the report.
The robbers left the man at the convenience store and headed back toward downtown, police said. Both suspects were black men, 21 to 25 years old - one has dreadlocks and was wearing a red hat, the other was clean-cut with short hair, according to the report.

This is happening in Athens with regularity - if someone is so drunk that he can't drive home why not look up a LEGITIMATE cab company in the phone book and get a ride home? Particularly on football weekends this happens over and over. I do find UbranMeyerHater's comment rather comical considering the recent news about the Tennessee football players' arrest for robbery.
I saw two people removed from the game. They bought fake tickets from a scalper and the GBI had to come down in the dispute over the seats and investigate. They were able to tell which tickets were real and which were fake. By the way, we picked up our trash and left our tail-gate area clean. Dr. Adams won't have to fuss about our space!
