Law enforcement closed down a North Augusta teen club plagued by problems earlier this week.
North Augusta Department of Public Safety closed Club Fusion, located on Jefferson Davis Highway, Monday due to the clubs violation of several fire codes, said Chief John Thomas.
Deputies observed the violations when investigating a report of a bomb threat around 12:15 a.m. Sunday, he said. The department, Aiken County Sheriffs Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol evacuated the building, but no explosives were found, according to a police report. Officers did report hearing gunshots in the parking lot after the evacuation.
When we were investigating, we noticed materials stored in rooms improperly, sprinkler adjustments needed to be made and other things concerned us, Chief Thomas said.
The department will not re-open the club until the building is brought up to code.
Between May and November, nearly 40 calls were made to police about the establishment, according to Lt. Tim Pearson.
Why not take their license if such a problem and obviously a danger to the public with guns being fired.
Sounds like they used the Fire Marshal to close the club. I'm sure they'll be an "investigation" into the club's policies and they'll shut them down for good.
they should just close them down for good!! thats why they moved to n. aug. because augusta closed them down (club platinum)!! teens dont need clubs. its trouble in the making!!!!!
Exactly Iceman. They are taking measures to ensure the club adhere's to proper codes and law, one step at a time. They are causing problems, this is not breaking news, and it takes time for them to *shut down* a business. It isn't like they can just say, oh well they do this and that, and magic happens. It will be closed down, just as it was in Augusta.
And then of course, all the teen's will find other trouble to start. Noticed yet?? They don't need a *club* to congregate and break laws.
It's funny he use to be at high school football games recruiting those lil girls. If I remember right (when teen clubs were INNOCENT back in the day), I use to see him (the owner) at the two I use to go to LOL. Back then they only sold soft drinks, pop corn, candy etc. It was like going skating on Sunday night without the skates, in a semi-adult atmosphere. He's to OLD to be trying to have a TEEN club, why not get an adult club.
I knew NA wouldn't put up with this for long. This was probably the quickest way to close it. The falsification of the building permit will probably be what closes it completely, that process may take longer.
the club should be shut down for violating the business license....the license is for a banquet/reception facility and is not supposed to charge a cover; however, all the delinquents are paying to enter the club....
way to go NA, i guess the "thug club" owners will come back in front of the commission cry racial discrimination in an attempt to get their license back. and the sad and pathetic part is there will be at least 2-3 commissioners trying to make a case to give them another chance...never mind the vital public safety resources that will be needed on a regular basis...their excuse will be "they're just kids, trying to have fun"..her commissioner holland why not build them another "park"..that will cut down on the violence...LOL
Oh no, North Augusta will be in court for racism. Oh No!!!!
it is racist because that is the lamest excuse i done seen yet for closing down that banquet hall! many people has rented it out, high schools, colleges, the radio station, and all and now its a problem...... i hope the city of na get what it deserves
Thank you! I'm glad this club is closed and hope it never re-opens.
its not a club and it will re open just got to get some minor things fixed
apex24... Why would an obvious racist like yourself make this about race? The club is just a community headache that needs to go away. To your credit... You are a very consistent racist!! Is your grandfather a grand wizard of a local KKK chapter?
You can stick a fork in it. This is North Augusta, not Richmond county council.
I love North Augusta...they know how to run a town and run off idiots. Augusta/Richmond County should take some lessons!!
we will c next week what happens
Here comes JUST NUTS and the band of idiots crying foul because the Non-Minority should be allow to carry weapons and fire them recklessly in the air!!!!!!
teen clubs are breeding grounds for bad habits, poor choices, drugs, violence, and a host of other unhealthy activity. why do you think there's an age law on drinking in the first place?...clubs like this just groom young adults to become criminal adults. they are also a hunting ground for predators looking for a teen connection. as for the "old school" teen clubs mentioned by others as having an innocent "skating rink" atmosphere...b.s.!. there were clubs like this in augusta the 80s and they were full of alcohol, drugs, and thugs...nothing is different at all. except with cell phones, etc. the kids at these pplaces have more sophisticated means of pulling off crimes! clubs like this should be banned all the way around, they're a bad idea...always have been...always will be...law enforcement has better things to do than answer to calls that can be eliminated simply by closing places like this down! no excuses...no argument. these places provide no positive outlet for the youth in our community. they simply put the adult owers in a position to exploit teens and promote ridiculously inappropriate behavior while raking in the ca$h! why isn't that a crime? contributing to delinquincy?!
way to go arcmichael07! your immature comments and vague insinuation are perfect examples of the mindset of folks who support this kind of garbage! by the looks of your postings you should be in school learning the english language, not lurking around some club! your lack of basic grammar skills speaks volumes for where you place your priorities...and as long as you cannot read and write any better than you do...you are a prime candidate to grow up with a criminal history! put down the childish attitude and get busy with those books!
They should have let it burn down with the punks in it.
The former Riverfront Mini Mall had a dry valve fire system that was disconnected and a wet valve system that was chained and shut off. I know this for a fact after doing work when it was being ran as Doc's Riverfront Mini mall. The only way out was through the two front doors and a bolted double back door down a hallway. If there are 300 people in that place when a fire breaks out there will probably be 250 bodies when the fire is over. Hopefully the city will be able to keep this place shut down and the trash can go back to the other side of the river.
arcmichael07, Want to have a little, or big, wager that it won't open back up? Produce just one "legitimate" contract from each of the organizations you mentioned. Fusion is done in this town....go back to Richmond county and take the thugs and thug wannabe's with you.
Gnorth Augusta don't take gno schit!
No Aiken County city will put up with the junk that was going on at this place. Aiken County definitely will not either. Take back to Georgia !
archmichael107, do you live in North Augusta or not? Just curious.
And gnumb and curly, you are totally correct. It ain't happening in Aiken County.
The "racial discrimination" card doesn't play in North Augusta. You are thinking about Augusta.
arcmichael your are a blind fool if you dont see the safety issue with this club. It's not about race, its about the numerous phone calls to police and constant trouble. Why don't the moron owners run a decent club and shell out the money for some professional armed security for inside and outside. They know the crowd they draw is dangerous its been proven over and over! If their clientel wasn't gangbanging thugs and were decent young people who knew how to conduct themselves there wouldnt be a problem! If you choose to be open and know the trouble your place brings it is up to you to provide the safety measures. Maybe one day one of the innocent people caught in the crap from this club will sue them and bankrupt these 2 fools!
You have that exactly right.
I remember when Aiken had a problem with clubs for older clientele and had the same problem. They cleaned it up. No community needs to put up with that. You just need to have a community with the commitment to take care of the problem.
