BEECH ISLAND – An autopsy conducted this morning revealed that a man missing for more than a week was murdered.

Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton confirmed this evening that Gregory Brabham, 52, of Swamp Road, was killed, but he said he would not reveal the cause of death.

"The cause of death will be revealed at a later date however due to the ongoing criminal investigation it is not prudent to release those details at this time," he said in a news release.

Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the homicide, but no further details will be released at this time, sheriff's Sgt. Dave Myers said in a news release.

Mr. Brabham's body was discovered floating in the Savannah River by employees at the SCE & G Beech Island power plant Wednesday afternoon, Sgt. Myers said.

His sister told police he had been missing between six and 10 days, and suffered from epilepsy, Mr. Carlton said. He left his home by foot before his disappearance. Mr. Carlton said he likely stayed in the Beech Island area, since he could not drive. He could not be issued a driver’s license due to his health condition, he said.

Anyone with information about this incident, can contact the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at (800) 922-9709 or Crime Stoppers of the Midlands at (888) CRIME-SC. Callers can remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward between $50 and $1,000.
