BRUNSWICK, Ga. - A house fire in north Brunswick took the life of an infant Wednesday night, officials said.

Pernell Gray said he was working nearby when he heard screaming coming from a small, frame house.

"The whole house was lit up,'' Gray said."

Brunswick police Sgt. George Carter said a child had been taken from the house and transported to Southeast Georgia Health System's hospital a few blocks away. Deputy Coroner Chris Stewart later said the child - a 2-month-old girl - had died.

No additional information about the other occupants of the house was available.

Neighbors could not provide the names of the family members, and one said they had moved in as recently as last summer.
