Division II basketball power Augusta State watched its upset bid fall short at the University of Alabama tonight. Despite a team-high 16 points from All-American guard Ben Madgen, the Jaguars fell 61-55 in the exhibition.

The Jaguars trailed by as many as 12 in the second half. But Augusta State eventually pulled within two twice in the final minute.

Alabama sealed the game at the foul line, where it shot 10 for 11. The Crimson Tide convered six free-throw attempts the final 26 seconds to hold off the 10th-ranked Jaguars.

Augusta State shot 39 percent from the floor and committed 18 turnovers. Fred Brathwaite and Alex Smith each scored 12 for the Jaguars.
