AIKEN -- One person was seriously injured in an Aiken County wreck earlier today.
A tractor-trailer truck ran into a tree on Boggy Gut Road off of Highway 278 around 12:47 p.m., said an Aiken County 911 dispatcher. The driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, the dispatcher said. She could not detail the extent of the injuries.
The crash held up traffic on Highway 278 near Highway 19 for several hours. Emergency crews extinguished a small cap fire on the truck and cleared the truck from the highway this afternoon.
South Carolina Highway Patrol is still on the scene investigating the crash.
