A 72-year-old North Augusta man died today after being struck by a vehicle while doing yard work near his home.

William Adams, of Seymour Drive, was pronounced dead shortly before 4 p.m. today at Medical College of Georgia Hospital, according to a release by Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.

The release states that Mr. Adams was trimming plants and bushes and stacking them near the roadway today when he was struck by a 2002 Ford Taurus driven by Chatrice Evans, also of Seymour Drive.

Mr. Adams died of multiple body trauma. The collision is being investigated by the North Augusta Department of Public Safety and Aiken County Coroner's Office. A page to North Augusta Lt. Tim Pearson tonight hasn't been immediately returned.

The case marks the 33rd traffic fatality in Aiken County this year.

Was it Mr. Adams, or was it Mr. Williams who died?

Mr. Williams died of multiple body trauma.

happychimer

Which one died? Or were there 2 who died?

TakeAstand

How horrible. My condolences to the family.

Is there something that changed about the article? I don't understand your question chimer? It reads clearly to me.

philldinkens

I think chimer toked that smoke once too many times!

like-it-is

i agree philldinkens

happychimer

there was an error when the story was first posted.

happychimer

I copied and pasted what AC wrote. It had a Williams AND Adams died.

Is that all you have to worry and write about? A wonderful man whose real name is Bill Adams is gone. He was a master gardener and he loved to work in his yard full of wonderful and different flowers and plants he even cut the neighbors yards when they could not. He won a play house from a raffle and donated it to the city for the riverview park playground. He would help anybody that needed anything and he will be truly missed. So please don't fill up this space with such nonsense. I will pray for the Adams.

cajunnana2000

I pray for the family also, some people will always say something stupid no matter what.

Happychimer, you are an idiot if the only part of this story you noticed is the names. You must be from the other end of Seymour drive where Chatrice Evans lives. Chatrice Evans claims that she tought she hit a trash can! Someone check her cell phone records!!! She had to be on the phone, sending text messages or on crack! If one of the folks from her end of the Seymour had been ran over and got off without as much as a traffic violation, we would have a riot on our hands! Mr. Bill, as we lovingly called him, weighed more than 250. Chatrice Evans hit him so hard that she sent him airborn! It was a bright day with plenty of sunshine until Chatrice Evans came along and ruined our neighborhood!!! Mr. Bill, you will be missed terribly!! I pray for justice for this family and send my condolences.

happychimer

When the story was first posted, there were 2 names of the victim. I posted EXACTLY what AC posted. I came back later and found they had corrected it.

happychimer

GABBYBLEU you are the idiot; not me. 2 names and which was which? I asked myself were there 2 victims? Or was it one, and AChad a type error? The story made no sense.

GABBYBLEU

At this point, I should be greatful that Chatrice came back to the sceen at all. The "Not knowing" who caused this horrific accident would have been even more devastating to the family.

GABBYBLEU

hey Happychimer, YOU STILL DONT GET IT!!! To dang bad you werent slammed by the car!!! You couldnt care less about the content of the story.
You are less than dirt!

happychimer

If he calls me that again, I will call him the same thing.

storiesihaveread

Gabbybleu are you a freakin idiot or what

gfwvaldostaga.

Some people have nothing better to do than sit around and find fault with every one else but themself. My prayers go out to the family left behind...

pommom38

A man is dead in a horrific way, ya'll show some class and respect here for once! My prayers are with the family.

Roeschen

My thoughts are with his family. May he rest in peace.

When and loving man that we called Mr. Bill, is killed in such a horrible way, someone should be held responsible. Chatrice Evans said she though she hit a trash can. If this were to happen in other areas, this would have more coverage.
I didnt put anything in the other comments that werent true.
To be dramatic about wrong names is useless in this context.
Happychimer never understood the meaning of the article.
I agree with "grewupinna" dont fill up this space with drama.
There was a break in across the street from him last week, and he was the one to check with all of us and make sure we were fine. HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED!

FallingLeaves

I don't know about there being more coverage about one area of town or another. But a man was hit by a SUV while walking to his mailbox October 22 and died of his injuries on October 27 , and there has been very little coverage of that either. He lived on a circle, yet a neighbor just a couple of houses down allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road managed to hit him hard enough to cause the life-threatening injuries. That was in south Richmond County. (Not Hephzibah).

corgimom

I know the difference between a person and a trash can. Especially in broad daylight.

happychimer

Gabby I will tell you one more time. Now listen. The story had been posted about 3 minutes when I first read it. Look above at my comment. It named TWO people killed, It turned out to be 1. I wanted to know what the real story was. 7:52 and 7:53 were copied and pasted from the story when it was 1st put on here by AC.There was an error. Then AC corrected their error. They updated the story. Now if you can't grasp what I said, then you need help.

lookinforhope

This is a very sad story. I am very sorry for the lose of this life. Why does it matter what coverage this is getting. It is a sad story, absolutetly horrible. Not only for the victims family and friends, but also for the driver of the car, she has a lot to deal with right now. I don't know either and do not live in N. Augusta, however I am very aware of the story Falling Leaves is refering to and I know both sides of that story and know that both sides are grieving horribly for that life. I also know that the neighbor was not "driving" on the wrong side of the road, I know that was posted in the newspaper, however it's not the truth. I also know that you don't have to be "speeding" to hit someone hard enough to cause life-threatening injures. The sad truth is that everyone involved in these types of tragic accidents suffer loss and right now both sides need encouragement, love and support. These types of accidents are truly accidents and are very tragic.
