Deputies are searching for a bank robber this afternoon after a gunman took money from the Wachovia Bank on Wheeler Road.
The man entered the bank shortly before 1 p.m., showed a handgun and demanded money from the bank teller, according to Richmond County Sheriff's Lt. Scott Gay. A dye pack was embedded in the money that the teller gave to the robber and it exploded red dye in the parking lot, Lt. Gay said. The robber is described as being a black man in his 40s, with short dark hair and a slight beard that had grey hair in it. He is believed to be about six feet tall and 200 pounds. He fled the scene in an older model, tan Chevrolet Suburban.
