Wreck injures Harlem man, 18

A young Harlem man was airlifted to an Augusta hospital after he flipped his SUV Thursday evening.

Jeffrey Nathaniel Thomas, 18, of Fairview Drive, was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital, where he was listed in good condition this morning, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Police say Mr. Thomas was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee north on Louisville Road near Grant Road just before 6 p.m. when the wreck occurred, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Accident Report.

Mr. Thomas’s SUV went off the right side of the road and traveled on the shoulder for about 250 feet before he over-corrected, according to the report. The Jeep veered across Louisville Road to the opposite shoulder, where it hit a ditch and an embankment.

The SUV flipped twice, landing upside down in the ditch.
