Georgia probably picked a good week to be without the Southeastern Conferences leading receiver.
A.J. Green, who leads the conference with 44 catches and 732 yards receiving, will miss Saturdays game against FCS opponent Tennessee Tech after suffering a rib injury in last weeks loss to Florida.
Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said he expects Green to return for the Bulldogs Nov. 14 game against Auburn.
The trainers said its one of those things where he was going to have to sit out a week, and we are very pleased its only a week, Bobo said.
With Green sidelined, Bobo said Rantavious Wooten would join Tavarres King as starters in a two-receiver set.
Quarterback Joe Cox said Wooten is a candidate to take advantage of the opportunity. Wooten has only four catches for 91 yards.
It seems like every week this year he has gotten better and better, Cox said. You can see in practice the plays he makes, and I think he is ready to step up and be a guy that can make plays. I think he definitely is going to be one of the guys that fills in for A.J. this week.
I'm glad Joe Cox think Wooten is getting better every game. To bad the same can't be said about him.
Well, this actually will be a fun game for the Georgia fans to watch, IMO. Georgia has to work on their running game AND their passing game, so we'll see a good bit of both. (Course, when you have the ball, you can only do one or the other, right? LOL!) Should be a beautiful day, weather-wise, and a game with no pressures! Having a team that is 4-4 makes you appreciate the game-weather more!
