Crews have begun work on the first road project in Richmond County to be funded by federal stimulus dollars.

The construction includes about 10 miles of Deans Bridge Road between Sandy Run Creek and Tobacco Road, according to a Georgia Department of Transportation press release.

The $4 million project includes resurfacing and shoulder reconstruction on the roadway, the release said.

Across the nation, about $48 billion has been set aside for transporation infrastructure through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. To track stimulus spending in Georgia, visit http://www.dot.ga.gov/gastimulus.
