Power outage fixed

An equipment malfunction caused an outage for about 1,000 Georgia Power customers this morning.

A spokeswoman for the company said the problem occurred about 8:30 a.m. and was fixed before the morning was out.

The incident caused traffic light outages around Central Avenue, Heard Avenue and Baker Street. Police were called in to direct traffic.
