Home invaders robbed an Augusta resident Monday and left him tied up in his bathtub, according to Lt. Scott Peebles, of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
Shortly after 5 p.m., sheriff's deputies were called to the 500 block of Fairhope Street. They found that the homeowner, 68, had been asleep when the back door was kicked in by two men.
After tying the resident up, the intruders robbed him at knife point, took his cash and car keys and left him in the tub.
They stole his Ford Explorer and left.
Several hours later, a neighbor heard him screaming for help and went to his aid. Officers found the sport utility vehicle behind a vacant apartment nearby on Mack Court.
Officers found Ahijah Murray, 19, and two other men walking near the victims vehicle, Lt. Peebles said in a news release. Mr. Murray has been arrested and is being held without bond at the Richmond County jail. He has been charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, burglary and theft by taking a motor vehicle.
The other two men have been released but not ruled out as suspects. The investigation is continuing.
