Old Greene Street church hopes open house attracts investors

An open house sponsored by Gap Ministries will be held at Greene Street Presbyterian Church from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday to offer visitors and prospective buyers an opportunity to see one of Augusta’s historic landmarks.

The church, built in 1909, is up for sale and would present a wonderful opportunity for preservation or restoration, said Porter Fleming, whose great grandparents were among the early members.

“We would like to see what support Augusta may give us to help save this landmark,” he said. Information on the building’s history will be presented during the event.
