Richmond County school system officials have decided to extend their policy suspending requirement of a doctor’s note for excused absences.

Since Sept. 8, the system has allowed students to use a signed note from a parent or guardian amid concerns of potential absences from the novel influenza A H1N1 virus.

Initially, school officials had agreed to suspend their doctor’s note requirement through Friday, Oct. 30. Officials have now decided to extend the allowance of parental or guardian notes until after the Thanksgiving break.
