Cory Baumann wins the second Augusta Half Marathon this morning.

Baumann, a 23-year-old graduate student at Georgia State in Atlanta and former collegiate runner at Wisconsin-Stevens Point, was competing in his first 13.1-mile event.

The race began and ended at Augusta Common on a cool, breezy morning. Baumann’s time bested last year’s mark by more than four minutes.

Jacob Melnick, a Medical College of Georgia student, won the inaugural event last year in 1:16:46.

See Monday's print edition of The Chronicle for extended coverage and photos.
