BATH – Aiken County investigators discovered a meth lab at an Aiken County mobile home late Wednesday night.

Aiken County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Bay Street around 10:30 p.m. on a report of a suspicious vehicle, Aiken County sheriff’s Sgt. Dave Myers said.

Upon arrival, deputies found one subject in the vehicle, which led to them to search a nearby mobile home, he said.

When investigators entered the home, they found evidence that the occupants had been running a meth lab in the home, Sgt. Myers said.

“They smelled paint thinner, saw a white, smoky fog and glass beakers, all things that would indicate a meth lab operation,” he said.

The sheriff’s office’s narcotics team, HAZMAT and other state agencies assisted with the investigation.

Sgt. Myers said he does not yet have details on arrests.
