CHARLESTON, S.C. A South Carolina woman has pleaded guilty to illegally accessing information on celebrities' passport applications.
U.S. Attorney Walt Wilkins said today that 46-year-old Yvette Burrison of Summerville pleaded guilty in Charleston on Tuesday.
Ms. Burrison worked at the U.S. State Department's passport office in North Charleston. Prosecutors say she improperly accessed information on about 100 people including celebrities, actors, musicians, models and athletes. Those names were not released.
Prosecutors have said there is no indication Ms. Burrison shared the information with anyone.
Mr. Wilkins says Ms. Burrison is the seventh State Department employee nationwide to be prosecuted for accessing passport information without authorization.
She will be sentenced later and faces up to one year in prison.
