COLUMBIA -- Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC, the company that manages and operates the Savannah River Site, is one of 10 nominees for a statewide diversity award.
The company manages the nations nuclear weapons stockpile, nuclear materials, and the environment at the site, which is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy.
Other nominees include Goodwill Industries of Lower South Carolina, Inc., Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center, Nationwide Insurance Co. and Wilbur Smith Associates. Winners will be announced Tuesday night at the 5th Annual Excellence in Workplace Diversity Awards, organized by the S. C. Chamber of Commerce and the S.C. Diversity Council.
Companies to win awards in large, medium and small categories will be selected based on ongoing company diversity initiatives, measurable objectives established to evaluate the success of the diversity initiatives, implementation techniques and roadblocks and how they were overcome, according to a statement from the Chamber of Commerce.
Even during a down economy, forward-thinking companies are embracing their workplace diversity initiatives just as much as their bottom lines, said the Chamber.
