A 17-year-old Hephzibah teenager was shot this morning on the 2500 block of Drumcliff Court.
A Richmond County sheriffs report states that the victim told officers that about 12:30 a.m. four to six unidentified young men were walking near the intersection of Dayton Street and Drumcliff Court when they stopped and yelled at him and four of his friends.
When one teenager approached the group, they asked him who jumped their cousin. The teenager and the group exchanged words, and then one of the young men in the group began firing shots. The victim told officers that while he was trying to run away, he was shot once on the left side of his buttocks. After firing the shots, the group of young men fled on foot.
The victim was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital for treatment. Officers also discovered that two vehicles on the street appeared to have been struck by bullets.
