Two new Food Lion grocery stores open this morning in Columbia County.

Each open at 8 a.m. and are located at 5157 Columbia Road in Grovetown and 3845 Evans to Locks Road in Evans.

The stores are included as part of a “village” shopping center concept by Blanchard and Calhoun Commercial Inc. Other retail stores and restaurants are expected to open soon in those shopping centers. F&M Bank already has opened at the Evans center.

Can somebody help me get over

Can somebody help me get over the stigma I have with Food Lion? I associate them with low grade meats, etc. Have they changed?

Yeah, maybe Leoswife is

Yeah, maybe Leoswife is right. All this reading the "paper," keeping up with events and commenting is a waste of time when it is compared to going to a grocery store opening and getting a coupon for 50 cents off a box of Cap'n Crunch. We need to change our priorities.

TrueVoice, they did have a

TrueVoice, they did have a scandal of sorts about 10 years ago with the undercover guy. Supposedly, they fixed those problems. I believe a lot of their image problem comes from the locations. Since they have bought Bi-Lo it will be interesting how those using the Westlake one will now think about Food Lion.

Okay, okay, apologies to

Okay, okay, apologies to Leoswife. I just stopped at the new Food Lion on Fury's Ferry on my way home from work. They give you a great "soft" cooler as you go in if you get their discount card. Plus, this store is definitely a plus from their old stores in everyway.
