Maybe these will be kept cleaner than other Food Lion locations, the location on N Belair road is nice but the customer service clerks are not very pleasant.
Two new Food Lion grocery stores open Wednesday in Columbia County.
Each will open at 8 a.m. and are located at 5157 Columbia Road in Grovetown and 3845 Evans to Locks Road in Evans.
The stores are included as part of a village shopping center concept by Blanchard and Calhoun Commercial Inc. Other retail stores and restaurants are expected to open soon in those shopping centers. F&M Bank already has opened at the Evans center.
Prior to opening, each Food Lion will be site of a ribbon cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m.

The biggest problems most of the Food Lions had in this area is that they weren't union and the were under constant attack. Remember the phony ABC "clorex on the meat" report? The networks and other "organized" entities were tough on the food chain.
I don't like Food Lion.. they are dirty and they stink and their customer service sucks!!
They need to work on making their existing locations less of an eyesore. Also, their logo looks like a lion throwing up. I just don't feel like purchasing food there.
You better get used to them. They are in the process of buying out Bi-Lo so we will be seeing a lot more of them.
I agree, Lady! The stores are filthy (especially the one on Wrightsboro at Jackson), the customer service stinks and most of the Food Lion brand products are full of transfats! It is a substandard grocery chain. How disappointing! I live right near Daniel Village but will be shopping elsewhere when they move in!
Nothing like people who have no clue what they are talking about! Food Lions are some of the best stores around ,,, great rates and wonderful employees. Every business has their share of "duds" so get over it! Report them to the manager or find the Contact Me link on their website if you have a legitimate gripe!
the only one I ever frequented was in the old big tree shopping center. it was never clean. the store smelled funky. and the hoodrats at the nearby apartment made shopping there feel like you were walking into gang territory.
I bet a store in a good neighborhood has a perception of being great while one in a bad neighborhood is thought of as subpar. Since Food Lion has bought Bi-Lo watch how everyone raves about the Westlake one later.
River, I don't think it is always a perception. Sometimes that makes a difference.
Food Lion buying BI-LO is like Waffle House buying Long Horn Steak House.Or better still the mice buying a rat trap company. Things can only get worse.
