A frost advisory for much of the Augusta area has been issued for Monday from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.
A frost advisory means that frost is possible and sensitive plants might be killed if left uncovered.
According to a weather bulletin, the counties affected include: Richmond, Columbia, McDuffie, Lincoln, McCormick, Edgefield, Aiken and Saluda.
In the Augusta area, temperatures are expected to be chilly early in the week and then warm up as the week progresses, reaching the mid-70s by Wednesday or Thursday, according to Tim Hawks, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in West Columbia.
Temperatures in the Augusta area are expected to be in the mid-30s for Sunday night and Monday morning. Monday afternoon, temperatures should reach the mid-60s and then drop back down to the mid-30s Monday night, Mr. Hawks said.
There will probably be scattered areas of frost. Its not a killing frost, but if youve got any tender plants you should probably bring them inside, Mr. Hawks said.
