Chemistry Week events planned in Augusta, Aiken

Chemistry Week will be celebrated in Aiken and Augusta today with two interactive events.

The American Chemical Society, Savannah River Local Section, will observe the 22nd annual celebration at USC-Aiken, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Georgia-Carolina State Fair, from noon to 4 p.m.

Children and adults can take part in the chemistry demonstrations such as extracting their own DNA by using Gatorade.

A Chemistry Week event will also be held from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Western Carolina State Fair in Aiken.

There is no charge, besides the admission into the fairs, to participate in the events,
