ATLANTA — The Department of Justice has for the second time rejected Georgia's system of using Social Security numbers and driver's license data to check whether prospective voters are citizens.
The Justice Department first rejected Georgia's request for preclearance for the checks in May. The state in August asked the Justice Department to reconsider that rejection.
Georgia and a number of other states with a history of discriminatory voting practices must preclear any changes to election rules with the Justice Department under the federal Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Secretary of State Karen Handel said today that she plans to discuss the state's options with the governor and attorney general.

Why can a driver's license prove who you are and where yo live, but can't verify you live in a state in or der vote? There would be no ACORN voters under the DL/SS id system.
How many of the made up voters created by ACORN workers actually voted? Did Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck actually show up to the polls and finally make their voices heard? BTW, is there any evidence that illegal aliens are voting at all?
why is it not fair to show ID to vote? You even have to show it to check into the hospital!
and the reason they want the ID to vote it because in GA a lot of folks that live in the cemetery vote quite often!
Chances are, if they have one foot in the grave, they already have an ID. How else would they get in front of me on the highway going 35mph? I kid. But seriously, there should be driving test every 5 years because some people are a public safety hazard.
