  • Follow Latest News

Gov. Sonny Perdue today named former Augusta Mayor Bob Young and more than 40 others to a newly formed Complete Count Committee, a commission that will educate and coordinate community awareness and action for the upcoming 2010 federal census.

The committee will be responsible for establishing a census education program that will motivate community residents to get involved and respond for more accurate census results, according to a news release.

Mr. Young, president of Eagle Veterans Services LLC of Augusta, is also former regional director for U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Boy he picked a tear jerker

Boy he picked a tear jerker name for his company. I looked it up and still can't figure out where thet do "veterans services". I know Mr. Young served a stint in the USAF and was in RVN but I cant see exaecly what veterans service his company does. In any event unless this group is affiliated with the U.S. Census operation, I wonder what good they will do. I really wonder what the Governor is doing getting involved, using state taxes, in a program that is federally mandated. Is he just anxious to waste taxes?

Learn to speak Spanish, Bob.

Learn to speak Spanish, Bob. And I really did enjoy the breakfast at the IHOP when I sat next to you. Especially when I said to you, "Mayor Young, I'm not one of your constituents. I live in North Augusta. But I am dying to ask you this. What on earth were you thinking when you took on such a thankless job?" His son and daughter cracked up and said, "We asked him the same thing!"
