FORT COLLINS, Colo. - A 6-year-old Colorado boy feared to have floated off in a helium balloon has been found safe at his home, hiding in a cardboard box in the garage attic.

Sheriff Jim Alderman turned to reporters during a news conference and held thumbs up and said, "He's at the house." Alderden said an investigator on the scene saw the boy and he was fine.

He said the boy apparently has been in the attic the whole time.

The boy's brother had said he saw 6-year-old Falcon Heene get in the balloon before it took off. The flight last two hours and spanned 50 miles and set off a frantic search.

Update | 3:42 p.m.
At 11 a.m. Mountain time, Falcon Heene, the 6-year-old son of Richard Heene accidentally lifted off in his father’s helium balloon. After flying for more than two hours, the half-deflated aircraft landed in an empty field.

But when the balloon landed, according to KUSA-TV, the boy was not in the balloon, deepening the mystery.

From KUSA TV - When it landed

From KUSA TV - When it landed five miles east of Prospect Reservoir, 9NEWS could not see any child rescued from the basket of the balloon, but earlier police had said they were certain he was still inside.

I would assume that the

I would assume that the report would not have stated about the child if the parents knew the whereabouts of the child.
This is unbelieveable.
How was the family talking to them, and the child in or not be undecisive? Someone isn't reporting accurately here.

Putting a homemade helium

Putting a homemade helium balloon around small children with active imaginations and no sense of danger is guaranteed disaster. I hope he didn't fall out, but it looks that way.

We can all make a "guess "on

We can all make a "guess "on this while praying for the child. My guess is someone took the child and released the ballon to divert attention and brother knows more of the story and the child is safe. Probably wrong; that is why they call it a guess.

It might be horrid honey, but

It might be horrid honey, but it's also a big reality.. No one (including the parents) seem to know where this child has been for over 2 hours now. And soldout could be a good guesser, it is quite plausible that the kid was taken, by any means necessary. It wouldn't take but a second to undo the balloon.
I don't care what the older boy claims, they just need to find this child!!!!

The way some of you jump to

The way some of you jump to conclusions and create these false scenarios based on "guessing" is a window into the paranoia and lack of rational that dictates your thought process and life..Must be LIEbrals, CONservatives, and REPUBliturds...

How do you think

How do you think investigators solve things mr nativeson? By clues, by guess, by recreating, sometimes facts. As usual, got to bring politics into something. Anyhow, well Jack, guess the family's got some explaining to do. IN THE HOUSE? You can't be serious.. I pray for these kids and there future if it is indeed fact. You have everyone in a panic, have it all over the news, and yet the child was home all along. This world's going to **** in a handbag.

I don't care where he was

I don't care where he was *hiding*.. Parents should know to search everywhere and call the name, search for your child!! How old is the other kid? That the parent's just take his word for it?
This is a sick joke is what it was.. And oh yea, the family will get bashed for the same reason, get undeserved publicity. Or maybe people will see it for what it was, a waste of manpower, public tv time, and poor parenting.
Yes, I went there!!
Thank God he's safe, but someone will be trying to get at the bottom of this fiasco.

Soon as I saw the picture, I

Soon as I saw the picture, I knew exactly who they were and even recalled the episode they were on. And, oh what a huge surprize that the boy *saw the younger one get in the balloon*.
Anyone that didn't see the episode back in March, the kids are not good lil boys.
