Two Augusta men told police they were robbed at gunpoint in the 2900 block of Crosscreek Road in Hephzibah on Saturday.

According to a Richmond County sheriff’s report, at about 6:20 p.m. a man and his friend went to meet a man to see about purchasing a vehicle. When the two men arrived, they were approached by a man claiming to be the seller of the vehicle and another man. The man claiming to be the seller pulled out a black semiautomatic handgun and demanded money. A third man then appeared from behind a nearby residence. The two men said $2,500 was stolen from them.

The armed man was described as black, about 22 years old, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 175 pounds.

The second man was described as black, about 22 years old, about 6 feet tall, weighing about 170 pounds.

Fedup: English Professor, Dr Garvey, from ASU was working with the staff at the Chronicle. But with budget cuts, the Chronicle probably had to let him go.

I just can't understand why

I just can't understand why the media always picks on these fine young African American men. They are idolized by their peers as being productive, entrepreneurs or should I say intrepid manure... The music they listen to glamorizes the life style and they act it out in real life!! They love being imprisoned, if you don't believe it, get arrested and spend time in jail. Or maybe they don't really like being incarcerated, it could be that they are just not as smart as they think they are and get caught committing crimes more often than their latino, asian, caucasian thug couterparts. I hope that if there is any credibilty to this story the Sheriffs Department gets to the bottom of it and makes some arrests before someone gets hurt.

Just think how nice this

Just think how nice this normal situation would have been if one of the buyers stayed in the car with a shotgun. In todays society, You have to plan ahead.

CobaltGeorge, I don't know if

CobaltGeorge, I don't know if you have ever watched First 48? There was an episode from its first season I think? This same robbery tactic was used, only the unsuspecting buyer was murdered. Society has gone from bad to worse, looks like someone is going to have to retake controll of the streets before the rats take it over. Lord help us all!!!

In broad daylight in the

In broad daylight in the middle of the largest subdivision in Augusta a robbery takes place. And the robbery is right next to the neighborhood drug retailers favorite location. I would bet that the nearest cop was on Tobacco road sitting in his speed trap between Windsor springs and the airport. What is more important neighborhood protection or a speed trap on a 4 lane highway with little or no traffic? When are we going to get some all-out police protection for real crimes?

Lay off these thugs, they

Lay off these thugs, they took a crash course on running a used car business, and thought they were doing what used car dealers do best; Robbing people. The problem is they took this section of the course literally, and used a gun rather than a junk car to rob someone. The difference between these thugs and a legitimate used car dealer is that they will serve time for their form of robbery.
