ATLANTA - A 21-year-old man charged with killing a Spelman College student is due in court in Atlanta on Wednesday.

Devonni Manuel Benton, a student at ITT Technical Institute, was arrested Tuesday. Police say he's being held in the Fulton County jail on one count of murder and one count of aggravated assault.

He's charged in the killing of 19-year-old Jasmine Lynn, who died early last month after being struck by a bullet while walking with friends.

Police say Benton and his friends were walking near the Clark Atlanta University campus when they got into a fight with a group of Clark Atlanta students. They say Benton fired six shots and that one of them struck Lynn, who was walking nearby with friends.
