CONWAY, S.C. — A public memorial is planned today for three crew members who died when a medical helicopter crashed along the South Carolina coast.

The event at Coastal Carolina University is being held in honor of 45-year-old pilot Patrick Walters, 39-year-old paramedic Randolph Claxton Dover and 42-year-old flight nurse Diana Conner. They died Sept. 25 in the Georgetown County crash.

Nearly 150 people attended a service in Garden City Wednesday for Walters. Services for Dove were held Thursday. Conner's family requested there be no service.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash of the chopper that went down in the rain south of Georgetown.
