The South Carolina Public Service Commission will hold a public hearing Wednesday to review Avondale Mills’ water and sewer rates.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at Byrd Elementary, 1225 Weldon Way, Graniteville, according to a commission news release.

Several Avondale customers in Graniteville and Vaucluse said they received bills that were 600 times higher than their previous bills in some cases. The PSC suspended the rates Aug. 5 but reinstated them Aug. 12.

Customers are welcome to testify on the rates under oath during the hearing Wednesday.

For more information, visit the Commission’s Docket Management System on its Web site at www.psc.sc.gov, referring to Docket 2009-342-WS and Docket 2008-460-WS.
