Man robbed while changing flat tire

An 18-year-old Augusta man was robbed at gunpoint while changing a flat tire on his vehicle near the intersection of Peach Orchard and Byrd roads this morning.

A Richmond County sheriff’s report says that while the man was changing his tire about 1:30 a.m., a man and woman pulled up next to him in a mid to late 90’s model white Honda Civic or Accord with dark tinted windows. The robbers pointed a laser sight on the gun at the man and demanded his wallet and cell phone. After the man gave the items to the robbers, they fled in an unknown direction on Peach Orchard Road.

This happened on the south side of town?

exmedic

what happened to the description of the robbers?

mad_max

Description of the man and woman???? (insert standard description) Folks, carry a gun if you go out. If someone approaches, shoot them. The cops cannot protect you and the courts will not protect you. This town is full of scumbag lowlife thieves and thugs and you have to take the protection of your life and property into your own hands.

What is an 18yr old doing at 1:30am?
Sounds to me like a drug exchange went bad for one person.

TakeAstand

He could have gotten home from work, or a date, or whatever. The p.o.s robbers had no business taking something that wasn't theirs because they are to lazy to work for it. They shouldn't be allowed to live, they should be thrown on an island with other p.o.s's like them and left to rob and terrorize each other!!

Rose

eschamb that is a stupid comment. You never stayed out late when you were 18? How do you know that 18 yr old was not going home from work? You need to look at the positive and stop assuming the worst about someone you know nothing about.

Rose

Some people always blame the crime victims, till they become a victim themselves.

Rolling Eyes

It could have been worse. Just remember what happened to Bill Cosby's son......

RAWR

Mad max that is the worst advice I have ever read. You cannot justify shooting someone if they only approach you. I am not sure if you lack reading comprehension or you do now know the laws on carrying guns. An 18 year old does not qualify for a Georgia Firearms License. Therefore they cannot legally carry a gun on their person. If he had a gun in his car he may not have had time to get to it.

TakeAstand

I agree with max and most would assume hes talking about a criminal approching you to rob you or breaking into your home, not just any joe knocking on your door. These punks are getting ridiculous and they need to be stopped. The law doesn't protect us worth a crap from these p.o.s's!

RAWR

TakeAstand I fully agree with defending yourself. But what happens if you shoot someone approaching you to give assistance? You do not know the intentions of anyone.

andrew412

he is 18 and he doesn't have a legal curfew, give him a break! it's hard enough he got a flat tire... and at least he was trying to fix it himself. and mad max- advice to carry a gun, especially for an 18-year-old, isn't always very safe or practical! i'm just glad he didn't get hurt.

I think it is time for the citizens to take up weapons and defend
yourself, your property, and your family. It is apparent the law
enforcement can't stop the crime wave going up every day! The
law can not be everywhere at all times so you must protect yourself. When some of these thugs get shot and killed then
their parents will be complaining about how their child has been shot and that their kid was a perfect angel! Too late, parents,
know where you children are and what they are doing and question how they come home with a new TV or whatever.

They may have need money for their meth lab.

Description of the Idiot that always say ( Insert usual description)? Insert ( MAD MAX) aka mental midget.

ispy4u

With MAD MAX mentality, you can assume that he meant anyone especially those of the " Usual description".

JohnTaurus

All law abiding citizens should get a concealed weapons carry permit and learn to use their weapon and the law regarding its use. Predators being eaten by their prey will soon stop being predators...if they survive. A bullet is cheap and will save the state incarceration fees, attorney fees, salaries for Judges, food for the inmate, etc. Simple economics.

I thought Whodini said freeks only came out at night...I think they were wrong...freeks now come out early in the morning too! History is doomed to repeat itself. We are headed for the days of the wild, wild west when carrying a gun and having a shoot out in the middle of the street was the thing to do. Scary thought!

John Taurus - You're new to this forum of facts and no common sense posters. You seem to have a great deal of intelligent's and word your post using facts and common sense. Welcome aboard. I, too, am greatly oppose to the "all whites are Racist" ....The word "Racist" is the most used or implied word in all post daily, no matter what the subject is. Lets have a small poll on that word. I think it will be very interesting to see just what way this forum tilts. With just a Yes or No post, (Save your comments for your next post, Please) - "Do you feel that the people who dislike of our president is because of his "color?" Daily posters, once in a while posters and posters that have not ever posted, Please post. I will start........NO!

teharper428

small pole?? hmm...think you meant small POLL.

CobaltGeorge

teharper428 - You are 100% correct, a very poorly constructed post.

"Fled in an unknown direction"???? How is that possible?

AWyld1

Sounds like this is a hate crime....someone hates to work for a living and would rather rob someone else.

CobaltGeorge

Just think how strong our military would be if all our fighting male and female troops in Afghanistan had the same feelings about race as some of the posters here.

disssman

No madmax to me they are blood thirsty ANIMALS who don't know how to live in civilization.

RAWR

Cobalt did you really spell intelligence wrong? LOL

FallingLeaves

Stuff like this has been going on in increasing numbers in Augusta for over 10 years. It has been the Wild Wild West for quite awhile now, but certain key people wouldn't do anything about it. Now nearly everyone has been affected directly or indirectly by the ever-increasing crime here. When that car next door shows up one day with a paper tag, another day with a regular tag, then another day with a DIFFERENT regular tag, then a fourth time with a paper tag and the tags keep rotating, do you report it as suspicious activity? Or do you just ignore it? Then it's reported, well, it's the right tag for the car, so what, did you find out if it's the right OWNER? Well, 7 years later, he is FINALLY caught trafficking drugs and has had a brush regarding a stolen car before that. (Big surprise). His arrest could have happened a lot sooner if someone had taken a closer look sooner while pro-actively responding to the noise complaints and suspicious activity, instead of discounting them because of the guy's "connections". He had connections all right. That was the problem!

Discussionstarter

I agree with the John Taurus post. I would rather have read an article that the robber was robbing an off-duty policeman or undercover cop... and the robber was killed instantly as he demanded money that was not his!!!!!!

RAWR

Discussion I would rather not read an article like this at all. Your statement about them robbing a cop off or on duty cop is appalling. They are people as well ... I think they would be scrutinized for defending themself more than a civilian would.
