Richmond County Sheriff Ronnie Strength has been in the hospital since Thursday, but he is expected to be released soon, possibly today, his wife said Friday night.
Patti Strength said she did not want to name the hospital.
He was admitted about 7 p.m. Thursday after he fainted during a speaking engagement at Montclair subdivision in west Augusta.
"He's fine," Mrs. Strength said. "He's still there as a precaution. They're running tests."
Doctors told Mrs. Strength her husband likely fell ill because of a stomach virus. His illness is not related to his heart, Mrs. Strength said. Sheriff Strength, 63, underwent a heart bypass surgery in 1993, but he has not had any heart problems since then, Mrs. Strength said.
Hope you feel better!!
